Preventative Care
- Avoid Moisture and Humidity: Especially in the first few months, keep the leather away from water to prevent swelling and damage. Occasional exposure to rain is fine, but try to avoid regular contact with water1.
- Keep Away from Heat: Excessive heat can dry out the leather. A bit of sunlight is okay and can enhance the color, but avoid direct heat sources like radiators and blow dryers.
Regular Maintenance
- Clean Regularly: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe off any dust or dirt. For deeper cleaning, use a damp cloth with a mild soap solution, but avoid soaking the leather.
- Condition the Leather: Apply a leather conditioner or balm regularly to keep the leather moisturized and prevent it from drying out and cracking. This also helps maintain its suppleness and enhances the patina.
- Use a Leather Protector: Applying a leather protector can help shield the leather from stains and water damage.
Before applying any conditioner or protector to your item, read product instructions carefully to verify it is suitable for application on Vegetable Tanned leather. Then test it in a non visible area.
Storage Tips
- Store in a Cool, Dry Place: When not in use, store the leather product in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources2.
- Use a Dust Bag: If possible, store the leather item in a dust bag to protect it from dust and scratches
